With the way things are these days, bowhunting is very expensive if you don't have years to spread out purchases. I plan on getting a Summit climbing stand, but the HSS jacket might be too much. Does anybody here use the harness that comes with the stand? I plan on using my harness at all times, but I these aftermarket harnesses are very high.

They are fine and not heavy at all. I still wear mine and lots of times I forget I have it on. You dont need the best of the best, just has to work. Its only expensive as you make it.

Im still in high school and have to be careful how I spend and how I utilize something to its full extent. I can't justify spending $100 on a HSS vest when my summit one is fine. Especially when there is other things for hunting I NEED.

;)

the last time I looked at the safety harness that comes with the Summit stands, the harness looked to be well made. I wouldnt be afraid to use it and spend your money on other equipment that you may need.

with that beening said, I have a Summit harness and a HSS vest. I used both at different times. I use the HSS more the past 2 years because of the pockets. several times I have been able to leave the fanny pack or back pack in the truck because I could get all my gear I needed in the pockets. not so with the Summit harness. I use the Summit harness when hanging stands since it has the metal d-rings sewn in instead of web loops and it is easier to unhook and rehook when I use 2 linemen's belts because of tree branches.

Yep, the wife is aware of the upcoming stand purchase. If it comes with a four point harness, I don't need to spend the extra $$$. Just buying a sportsman license is not cheap.

i didnt care for mine. it was kind of akward to put on because it didnt have the seatbelt time buckle and you had to weave the belt back and forth through the loops. you could practice alot and get it down pat,but i prefer the easy seatbelt time.alot quicker. maybe i'm just lazy lol. the new ones that come with the summit might have that now i dont know.

That's exactly what I do with my old summit fastback too . I use my HSS for hunting , and my Summit SOP for hanging stands .

I just have the harness that came with the stand and I dont leave the ground without it
Its very comfy , only takes a minute to put on, and I even tie 2 ropes to the side loops and I have a deer drag
or a linemans belt

What are lineman's belts? Also, is it easy to climb a tree with a climber with the safety harness on? Do you simply reconnect to the tree after each move up the tree?

i actually like mine better than the HSS. it is the seat-o-the-pants harness.

Did that come with the stand? Which stand if so?

my stand is so old. it was before they provided harnesses with their stands. but it's the same thing.

Thanks. I haven't seen it an while, but some guys posted a video test of the Seat-o-the-Pants harness vs the HSS on You Tube. They set a stand about 8 ft off the ground and fell off the stand. The Seat-o-the-Pants was supposed to be comfortable while suspended, but the HSS system was painful. Of course, suspension trauma is a killer in itself, so if this happened to me I would be quick to get out of the situation, but doing so pain free wouldn't hurt.

i have not been so unfortunate to have tried this one out. previously, i had a strap type harness that was just the upper part with a loop that went on your belt in the back., no leg loops. it saved me twice.

A linemans belt is a system that loops a rope around the tree and is secured at your sides near the waist
If you have a set of climbing gaffs you can go up there tree real quick
