I usually stand around until I hear one unless I already know where they roosted. I have been getting out of the truck and walking out to the woods around 5:45. You can see pretty good around 6:15ish.
:grin: I almost forgot to mention that little tid bit. I guess it just depends how long of a walk you have or if you have some roosted. Where I was this morning I saw a tom yesterday evening late (I couldn't get a shot on him then ) and knew his general area so I didn't get out of the truck til 5:45 or so. If I didn't have any roosted I may have set out a little earlier.
BTW, I never heard or saw that bird this morning. Just heard two across the lake that I couldn't get to talk to me when I moved over there.
