Since I got one a week ago with Pretty Boy--thought I'd try again yesterday. Set him up with 3 hen dekes. Heard him gobble on the roost. He flew down 300 yards away. I shook my gobbler and he stuck his head WAY up in the air and then I cut to him on a mouthcall. He was with three jakes and he just ditched those guys immediately. Lowered his head and did the half run, half walk, half strut all the way in. About every 20 yards he would throw his fan out so hard you could hear it snap. I kept purring and clucking the whole time. I finally couldn't stand it and snapped him at 28 steps. The jakes decided that a shotgun sounded like a good time and came on in after the shot. They danced around for an hour or so and were joined by three hens. I sat there for a couple of hours watching the show. Once they left, I got up to inspect my prize. 20 lbs, 9.5" beard, 1" spurs--shot at 6:15 AM. Great season!
