Anyone taking a kid this weekend? I try to take a youngster or 2 every year and this year is no different...looking forward to it.

A couple of years ago I took a 12 year old on his first turkey hunt and I don't know who had more fun, him or me. Called in 2 longbeards right off the bat but he just couldn't seem to get settled for the shot. 45 min, 4 jakes, and 2 shots later...still no bird. It took 2 more shots but we were finally able to close the deal on a beautiful tom later that morning.

His dad sent me a note just last week and mentioned how much of an impression that experience had made on the young man. Wouldn't trade it for anything...very rewarding for me.

I'll be taking two boys (14 and 12). The 12 yo will hunt with me, and the 14yo will hunt with his dad. I'll have pop-up blinds setup for each of them at pre-scouted locations.

Last year, they both missed. They have done a lot of shooting this spring so hopefully this year will be different.

Gonna be taking a friend and his 12 yr old son on their first turkey hunt this year. Can't wait to get out and see someone experience a tom gobbling for the first time!
