Tampa gonna love this!!

Yeah....not so much. I've talked to quite a few friends down that way that said if Jameis was drafted by the Buc's that they were done. These are long time fans that said they want nothing to do with him and would not buy another ticket as long as he was there. All think it will be a huge PR issue and a blemish on the Buc's image.

Listen to the same fans that quit going to the games? For every Gator or Cane in this town who quits going to the games there will be a Nole to replace them. People in Tampa fluffy kitten about everything, this is no exception. Who conducted this poll and what people did they ask? Telephone or did someone call season ticket holders. We have more old people than Tenn has squirrels and neither go to the games.

Wow 2,750 Votes and 80'/. Of them picked Mariota. You would never think a N/C winning Heisman trophy holding QB that played college in Florida!

Would only get 20'/. Of votes on a poll that asked people if they want him to continue playing football at the pro level for Tampa bay.

No matter who the 2,750 people they asked were I would have not guessed only 20'/. Wanted Winston.

Donkey you would certainly have to consider who they asked the questions of. If you went to Tallahassee and asked who was the better football team I would bet Seminoles would win. Tampa is dominated by Gators, always has been.Only 1 hour away.Seminoles 4.

A very large population of Tampa hide their own Easter eggs.In 6 months ask them the same question without leading them on. I have asked over 300 people so far how they feel about Winston coming to Tampa. 2 don't want him---both Seminoles. They would rather see him with the Rams(as a # 1 pick) because of the Gator fans in this area who have already forgotten about Treon Harris. My cousin is a Sports reporter for the Bucs Pewter Power Magazine. He disagrees with you completly.

wow baddnole, 300 people. you should send your survey results in to espn. I am sure they would post it on their site. 298+ to 2. That is a very strong showing by Rapeis. A much stronger performance than the combine

Sorry redblood I only ask the people with intelligence. Don't have time to drive around all day and ask questions..
If you go by the combine Jameis would be in Tampa already. Guess Maryyoda will have to wait till The Jets call him.

Where do you get your info from redblood? None of the NFL people seem to agree with you. Gee,I'm not really surprised by that.

Analysis: I'd be very surprised if the Bucs didn't take a quarterback at No. 1, and both Winston and Mariota are possibilities here. But to me, Winston has a clear advantage over Mariota based on his on-field performance. He is such a natural passer in terms of his ability to anticipate throws and deliver the ball accurately, and, to me, if you limit it to an on-field evaluation, he's second only to Andrew Luck among QB prospects of the past 10 years. Tampa Bay will have to be comfortable with its character and psychological evaluations of Winston before drafting him No. 1 overall, but from what I've heard, Winston really impressed teams during his combine interview sessions with how he talked about his past, and he wowed them with his football IQ. Mariota possesses great physical tools and very good character and football intelligence, and I think he has the potential to develop into a good NFL starter. But to me, Winston is both more advanced now and has the higher ceiling when projecting the f

Analysis: If this scenario plays out, it provides the Jets' new regime a great opportunity to draft their guy at quarterback. As I wrote in the Bucs' section, I see Mariota as being a notch below Winston, but I do believe he has the potential to become a good starter in this league, so long as the team that takes him has a plan to develop him. Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey is a good fit for Mariota in that regard, given his history with spread-formation offenses. He can incorporate some up-tempo and zone-read elements for Mariota early while also developing his ability to win from the pocket, which is what Mariota will need to succeed long term. If the Jets don't take Mariota here, their other options include receiver Amari Cooper, cornerback Trae Waynes and pass-rusher Shane Ray.

Much like Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson (the two best QBs drafted in the past three years), Winston is a passionate, high-level competitor who can rally a team around him. Every single coach who has worked with him says the same thing: the guy is a leader.

In fact, everything about Winston's game profiles as a top notch NFL caliber QB:

-A pro-style background
-Prototypical physical tools
-Vocal leader
-Excels in crunch time/close games
-Beats you from the pocket
-Has enough athleticism to get outside and make plays

But the thing that really excites me about Winston is the fact that I think he's falling into the perfect situation. Sometimes with QB prospects, it's as much about talent as it is where they actually end up. When the right QB falls into the right situation with the right team, it changes everything.

You have a head coach in Lovie Smith who is highly regarded as a mentor and leader of men who can help instill the right values in a player. Exactly the kind of coach you want for a guy like Winston. You have a group of receivers in Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson, Louis Murphy, and ASJ who instantly provide a young quarterback with big, productive, dependable options on the outside. (How many rookie QBs are able to step into a situation and inherit two 1,000 yard receivers and a young difference maker at tight end?) And you have an offensive coordinator who has excelled with a pro style pocket passer like Winston in Matt Ryan.

To me, Winston to the Bucs is an ideal marriage.

Am I the only one who sees a little bit of Ryan Leaf in Jameis? I'm in the crowd of folks who thinks he is the best pure QB prospect in this class, but I wouldn't bet a single dollar of my hard earned money that he can stay out of trouble. I'm sure he was well taken care of at Fl St, but imagine the trouble he will be able to get into when he has millions in his pockets. Jameis is pretty clearly all about Jameis, and that doesn't seem to work very well in the NFL. For his sake, hope I'm wrong.
