I've had this happen before, but it was a creek that time. I setup my blind where I've seen turkeys before. The weather must have changed their patterns though and they hung right along the treeline instead of going into the field.

Well I bailed the blind and walked along this ridge blowing my crow call. I didn't see or hear anything. Then I noticed hens coming out on the edge of the field.

I walked down through a draw and setup on this point that goes into the field. Sure enough I got the gobblers fired up! That bad thing is that the first two were Jakes and scrawny ones. They took off when they heard big papa walk into the field. I could have killed one of the Jakes, but decided that they are stupid and not much of a challenge. :D

The gobbler and I traded love talk for over 30 minutes! He just would NOT cross about a 30 foot marsh to get close enough for me to shoot him. He was out there about a hundred yards away just strutting like crazy. After awhile, he got bored and left. Too bad I had left my decoys back in the blind or he may have crossed if he saw some hens. There were several hens on my side of the marsh, he just wouldn't fly or walk across that little bit of water.

I did get the gobbler and the jake on video. I really need a camera man. I'm so busy trying to call the turkey, and not scare it off, that I can't really get good camera footage.
