Tried this load today for my .50 CVA Optima. This is my first year shooting an in-line, after many years of traditional patched ball shooting.

110 gr loose 777, 240 gr all lead TC Cheap Shots. This target was at 100 yards.

I bought these bullets as cheaper practice rounds: they're supposed to have the same ballistics as the XTP copper-jaketed. With this accuracy, I'm thinking of using them while hunting. I've had good luck with the deer I've shot with the little .490 round ball, so I'm thinking these pure lead 240 grain jobs should work OK.

After reading the thread on Round Ball vs. Conical, I'm not so sure.

Anyone out there use this load on a deer? Were you pleased?

I use the T/C Cheap Shot in my NEF Huntsman with 85 gr of APP all the time. My shots are all under 50 yards and they do real well on deer. Of course if they are within 30 yards I tend to take a neck shot which drops them in their tracks. I've heard some say they have lost deer using cheap shots at longer ranges and didn't get much blood trail. But for me they work well and I haven't lost a deer with them yet. Good luck.
