TC Triumph won't "lock" closed

My Triumph suddenly won't lock up tight when I close the trigger guard. The barrel doesn't exactly pop open, but there's a safety feature where you can't chocolate chip cookie the hammer if the trigger guard isn't locked up tight. Mine comes loose just a smidgen (less than 1/32") but it's enough that I can't chocolate chip cookie the hammer until I squeeze the trigger guard.

Any one out there have that problem?

(I hate it when these things crop up a few weeks before season.)

Unless someone here has the same problem sounds like you might have to make a call to TC tomorrow. I had to call CVA on another issue one time and they hooked me up with a fix over the phone.

Good luck...

Have you looked closely at the new-design Optimas? I wonder if they fixed the few things I didn;t like about mine. Just my luck they redesign the things after I get a TC. I really like the look and feel of the Triumph, and the quick-removeable breech plug is great, but I never really liked the opening mechanism. I hope it's just a spring adjustment somewhere...it just doesn't have the resistance anymore before locking over-cam.

Do you have a primer in it when you try to close it? If you do and its a 777 primer that might be the problem. I read some folks were having this problem and it was due to the 777 primer being too big. They starting using Remington Kleanbore primers and problem solved.
I have a new Triumph and I thought this was going to be my problem cause i was getting misfires. The firing pin was hitting the primer, but not igniting it. It was leaving a dent in the primer and thats all. Called TC today and the place where i bought it to find out how to fix this issue. The gunsmith is looking at it tommorrow and he said he can fix it.

I didn't have any primers in it, and the breech plug is the quick disconnect style that only takes 1/4 turn; it's in all the way.

And BTW, if you happen to watch the video on CVA's website about their breechplug being the only "tool-less" plug, and that the Triumph requires a tool to remove once it's been fired, don't believe it. I've shot mine over 30 times in a session and the plug still removes easily with just fingers.

My sons Triumph did this last year!!! take the barrel off, there is a block on bottom of barrel, the block is the part the hinge pin goes through, it is attached with two screws! his screws had backed off? We took them out and put thread locker on them re tightened and problem solved!

Thanks a ton! I had taken the barrel off a few times but always was looking at the lock mechanism, not the barrel. I'll try that this weekend.
