They seem to have a decent marketing presence. Realtree, Whitetail Properties, and Major League Bowhunter shoot their bows. Are they good or bad? Why don't people talk about them?

Bear has been making a bow for a VERY long time. There is not a discussion about the evolution of bow hunting that can take place without mentioning Fred Bear. To this day shooters are compared to him and his bows. You do not make it the archery business this long making junk. And the biggest reason you probably don't hear a lot of talk about bear archery is that they are like a lot of other companies out there, when you make a good product you don't need millions of dollars spent in advertising.

I understand the legacy. I have my dad's old Bear Whitetail 2. I just don't know anyone who shoots one, and I don't hear them mentioned when bows are brought up (talking about new bows here).

I like them I think they shoot pretty good and I think the are an overall very good bow. but for me personally I just fell in love with hoyt they fit me the best and 2nd the elite. but I like the bear line just for me I found others that fit me personally better. i would shoot them and see how they feel to you.

Here's my opinion and it's just my opinion on why you don't here much talk about em. Bear has long been a meat and potatoe bow for the working people. They don't have the celebrity exposure as most of the big names do, and we pay for that. And, I'm not downing any bow maker, have you notice how some such as Matthews and bowtech make what is considered lower end bows but under a different name, but bear doesn't. And I wonder about those who make something for the working people and for what ever reason do not put their name on it.

I know around 5-7 years ago they were having alot of quality issues ,
But I have to say I was really impressed with the agenda models and wouldn't think twice about shooting them . Really good shooting bow and built solid .

I like a lot of their bows, the Truth 2 is one of the top 5 bows I have ever shot. I have a Bowtech now, but my first compound was a Whitetail 2, wouldn't hesitate to buy another Bear.

I first had an Attack, Excellent shooting bow. I am now shooting a Carnage. Great Bow. Bear top of the line series are great bows. Shoot one. You will see. I was a Mathews man but Bear Bows shoot better for me.

I had an Attack as well and to be honest it was one of my fav bows I've owned over time. Shot great and handled well, and i was very consistent with it. Liked it better then the hoyt and mathews bows i had after it. Had a good draw cycle and a good back wall. Customer service was very good as well. I had the draw stops wearing out 2x on it and when i called they just sent me 4 new ones for free no questions asked.

There are a lot of good bows out there..........find one you like and go for it! Mine is Hoyt............has been for 24 years.

I agree with Grill n Man, I currently have 3 bows, one of them being a Bear "Element", I purchased it used with the intent of my son being able to use it...............plans didn't work out. It sat in the man cave for two yrs. when one day I thought, I am going to take it out and shot it, I was very impressed with the feel, handling, etc. I have since set it up as my 3D bow and am very please with it.

I think Bear bows keep getting better and better every year . A friend if mine recently bought one and said it's his favorite bow . I would have to say they don't get the same fanboy following as some of the other manufacturers , but they are every bit as good or better .

Primos HAD the contract with Bear when I purchased the Truth 2. Got a sweet deal. Love it. Started with the Whitetail bow, went to a Carbon Extreme, and now still have the Truth 2. I will never change. I LOVE the NO-HYPE sales. Very good shooting bows if you love the hunting bows. I am not into competition bows and I don't think that Bear has a real great selection of competition bows. With Bear you can't go wrong.

Interesting. Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm not in the market for a new bow, but they had a job opening I was thinking about applying for.

I am not brand partial. I chose a Bowtech because the model I was looking at fit me the best and had all the features I was looking for and quite frankly it shot the best in my hands. I think one should let a bow choose them rather than one choosing a bow. Shoot as many bows as you can and see which one you feel right with and which one you shoot the best.

I shot a lot of bows during my trial process. The Bear Motive 6 was one of them. It was rock solid and had a real solid back wall. Was really smooth on the draw and shot really well.

I found it to be a bit heavier than I really liked in a bow and it seemed to be a bit over engineered in some respects. Fit and finished seemed to be a bit on the cheezy side I thought compared to Bowtech, Matthews and Hoyts. Thats just my humble opinion. I would have to say it was in my top 5 of bows I was considering.

This may help you if in your decision if you are a numbers and speed guy. Last week had someone come in with a brand new elite with 70# limbs cranked all the way down and by my scale it pulled just a hair under 70. Took an agenda 6 with 60# limbs cranked all the way and by scale pulled 61# off the rack. Used his arrow weighing 326 gr and both set at 29 inch draw and shot them thru the chrono. Elite shot 313 fps and Agenda 317 fps. May not help much but some are after speed so the Agenda 6 was faster pulling less. And not putting Elite down in any way just putting some info out there to help.
