I slept in a little because of the cold rain and not wanting to haul my blind out there.

I've had my rear handed to me so far this season. Been on a few birds but haven't made it happen. Chased field birds all day long yesterday.

So I went outside and looked into one of the fields. Big strutter with hens...hmmm...could easily ambush or grab the tail fan and kill him. :D

Not sure if that's what I want to do though. The public land birds have become my nemesis...I guess I should head back to that field where I was yesterday and hope they're back.

What would y'all do?

Grab a fan go kill one then post a big long story on here about how he hung up on you 4 times but your perfectly timed calling called him in to 17 yards and you killed him.
:D

:stir:

If I were off I would probably go hunting, especially since I doubt the fish are biting. :D

If I were off work, and did not have anything pressing, my arse would be in the woods!

^^^^^This. I'd chase the strutter in the field and try to kill him my way if you don't want to ambush them. Even with hens, he could still come to calling, or you could call in the same flock. I guarantee that you won't kill one watching them from the window. :)

Good luck whatever you decide. If that didn't work, I'd head after the ones from yesterday.

I went, they gobbled good on the limb, they pitched down in the field 300 yards away. I finally convinced the hens to come my way, they brought the toms with them and of course when they got to 60 yards they hung up and wouldn't come any closer. I watched them strut all the way across the field out of sight. I'm at work now.

I got back on the field birds. Two toms this time. Almost had em in range and half of the hens took off flying. Never knew I was busted, they had been coming my way. Well the toms and remaining hens went off away and disappeared into the thicket by the creek. Doubt they'll fly across, but they could hang up in that thicket for a while. Looks like another long day ahead. Lol

Boy you just don't know how lucky you guys are that can watch birds out your window or just hop in your trucks and drive around your home and find birds you can hunt even if it's just for a few minutes before or after work.

It don't happen often but I didn't have to go into work until a little later today so I was able to hunt until about 8:00.
