Anybody seeing any birds in the Decatur/Benton/Hardin county areas?
I was covered up with birds in NE Decatur county during deer season and on up into January. However, I haven't seen a bird on our place or in our vicinity for a month and a half. We have gone thru this routine in the past, and the birds always seem to be there when the season rolls around. Hopefully, that will be the case this year, but where they go, or what has happened to them is a mystery.

I'd speculate the birds that will be scattered over several square miles come April/May are mostly in a single big flock or two until mid to late March, hens and toms separately flocked. You either see a huge flock of turkeys or see nothing in the meantime.

Where are you Swamphunter? I have a Sugartree mailing address(assuming that I got any mail up there, lol). We are pretty close to the Benton county line on Ricketts creek.

I should be more clear. When I say "my" farm I mean the one I have permission to hunt. It doesn't belong to me. It is just north of the Parsons city limits right off 641.
Well, "my" is good enough. If you have permission to hunt there, then "my farm" is appropriate. lol I was thru there both yesterday and Friday. Maybe of some of your birds will migrate 5 miles NE in the next two weeks? But, I'm not greedy. Birds from anywhere will do me nicely. Good Luck.

A buddy of mine was fishing just outside of Camden (Benton County) yesterday evening and heard 5-6 on the limb at dark, the owls really had them fired up he said. This morning he listened at two different spots and heard 2 more at each spot, for a total of 10 birds gobbling. I told him I would be very happy with that scouting report (assuming they do not shift and relocate before April 2). Just passing this info along.
