Within the next year I would like to purchase a SxS, if I can get a couple of debts paid off. I'm looking at the Honda Pioneer 700-4 or the Kawasaki Teryx4. The Teryx would seem to have more leg/knee room, which I would need for installing hand controls. My budget would be in the $8,000-10,000 range. I also like the bucket seats in the Teryx as I may use it to hunt out of and these would be more comfortable.

I have a 2-seater Pioneer 700 and my buddy has the 4-seater Teryx so here's my take but first off full disclosure I am a Honda guy.

Pioneer pros
1. It's a Honda
2. Transmission is gear driven like a car. No belts
3. Basic and simple
4. Back seats fold down so you can have a bed

Pioneer cons
1. Does not have high and low. Never a problem for me. The 1000 has it
2. The back seats in a 4-seater are for small kids. I'm 5' 10" and 210 lbs and too cramped to sit there.
3. They are too tall in my opinion. A friend has mine right down building a new cage that's much lower.

Teryx pros
1. More power than Pioneer
2. Bucket seats are comfortable in front and rear

Teryx cons
1. Bed is tiny and almost useless
2. Transmission is belt driven.

All of that said if I was buying today I'd look at the Pioneer 1000 and Polaris General. The General is like a hybrid between the Ranger and RZR.

Both of those, esp the General are out of my price range, but thanks for the comparison.

You can probably find good deals on used 700's if youre patient and not in a hurry. Good luck!

I have a two-seat Teryx LE and love it. Bed is big enough to be useful and it rides great. Plenty of power and a three year factory warranty if you buy new or slightly used. Might want to check out Holzhauer Motorsports in Nashville, IL. It's about an hour this side of St. Louis but they had prices that no dealer around here could touch.
