Texas A&M seems less likely to collapse this year!

IF TN could somehow pull it off, we would be in the playoff talk all the way to the SEC champ game, no matter what happens against Bama.

I still think we lose, much like Arkansas last year.

We have been playing on the talent level of our opponents all year. Tennessee must play 4 quarters and eliminated turnovers to have a chance in the next 2 weeks. Texas A&M has a good ball team and being at their home makes them that much more dangerous. It should make for a good Saturday afternoon football game.

Idk. They are a good team but can be beaten I think. UCLA win not as nice as it was, they did beat Ark pretty handily, but SC played them pretty close. I realize they had some key players out and were on the road but SC lost to UK. They are also like 6-9 at home vs SEC I think.

It will be tough to beat them at Kyle Field because TN is still some men down and it will be three big games in a row to get up for.

Saw a condensed version of their SC game on SECN. SC gave them some points with turnovers.

At this point in the season, TN just as easily could be 2-3 as the 5-0 where they currently sit. They have had (and likely made) some good luck. Once the Vols get past the next two games where they will be underdogs, they should be favored in their remaining games. With the possible exception of the TN Tech game, they are also capable of losing in any of the remaining SEC games. While they will deserve to be favored in them, if they show up flat and play less than an A game, they are not that much better than any of those teams where they can just coast through with a subpar performance.

IMO, a lot of Vol fans are getting way ahead of themselves in projecting this season. They are very lucky right now to be sitting where they are.

Yes, they are lucky. Yes, the fans are ahead of themselves. But why not? We don't have to play. Or prepare. Or focus. Contrary to popular belief, we are just fans having fun. Is Tennessee going to go undefeated, win the SEC and make the playoff? It would take a miracle. It's not even a little bit probable. But, it's fun to think about and until they lose we might as well enjoy the ride! It's not life or death. It's just a game being played by a bunch of kids we don't even know. :tu:

I'm enjoying every step of the way. Just like a couple of their losses last year were bad luck, I'm enjoying the good bounces this year.

They have earned their wins with their second half play, but with a different bounce of the ball or two, it could be a lot different season right now, just like last year could have been different as well. Such is the nature of close ball games decided by a play or two.

I.made no prediction. Just stated fact. Win one of next two and we will be in discussion until we lose which shouldn't happen until SEC champ game.

What he said.

When TN decides to stop shooting themselves in their own feet early in games, they will be hard to handle. Turnovers and dropped passes have killed them early in games. Yet to play
a complete game and are 5-0.

I totally agree TeamMainStreet. I hope coach BJ gets back to the brick by brick abc type practice this week and next. No team is perfect, but the mistakes and mental lapse and sometimes lack of effort is uncalled for. He and his staff surely see this, I hope they arent caught up in the hype.

This could be a barn burner of a second half in this game.

Texas A&M have outscored opponents 108-34 second half

Vols have outscored opponents 114-38 second half.

Josh Dobbs leads FBS with 10 TDs scored in second half.

If they beat A&M they will go 11-1 this year. But will still get screwed out of being able to play for a NC. No this is not coming from a TN fan, I'm sure most know I'm not a fan. What i can't stand is the stupid 4 team playoff and then everything from the Taco Bell bowl to the Purina Dog Chow bowl after that.

It is better than it used to be with the 4 team playoff but after that no one ever remembers if someone went 11-1 and won their little bowl game they get picked for. It needs to be treated like the NCAA tourney. Maybe not 64 teams but could do a 32 or even a 16 game tourney. It's not fair for the athletes to lose 1 or 2 games early in season and then play good the rest of the year to only be punished for the start of their season.

as a lifelong tn fan I think a&m will beat us by more than bama next week.. For some reason I have a horrible feeling about tmrw for my vols.. And does anyone know the timeframe for Kirkland and maybin?

Tomorrow is the day. We will just have to wait and see.

From what I could gather, Maybin is supposed to be getting another professional opinion on his injury. It sounded like they werent really 100% sure what exactly his injury was, but just knew that he wasnt up to playing. I still think he is probably done.

Kirkland has been running and participating in practice and has started cutting on that ankle. Will not go tomorrow but sounded optimistic for Bama.

Me too. I'm guessing it's been a long time since the Updykes have disappointed Bandwagon Nation by losing two in a row. I can't wait. I know they tried to poison our rock before. I hope there are no trees in Fayetteville.
