Started out fantastic as I was unloading the truck heard one gobble close. We got our camo on and went after him. Wasn't long he crossed the road onto the next property so we worked out way to the back of the property and struck up 2 birds. They were willing to play to about 100 yds when I stepped back about 30 yds calling like I was leaving. That brought them in close enough for Justin to shoot both of them. Great start.

Everything went south the next morning with cooler temps, cloudy and windy. Birds didn't gobble. Thursday it was wide open as birds were fired up everywhere. We chased 4 long beards with hens for a while then decided to go to a different ranch. Upon arriving we heard gobbles close to the truck. We setup close started calling. He came in on a string to 15 yds.

22-15 lbs, 8-3/4" beard, 7/8" & 1" spurs

Awesome! You have a trip lined up west this year for Merriams?

Haven't yet. It will have to be a solo trip as my hunting partner can't do anymore out of town trips.
If you know of a good place that's not expensive would like to hear about it
