This was probably the most textbook hunt I've ever had. Found him in a field around 1 with no hens. Got set up on him and called one time. He hammered and started coming my way. He hung up about 50 or so yards out until my brother started scratching in the leaves. He put it back in gear and cut the distance in half. I shot him at probably 20 yards. Spurs a little over an inch and beard was 9&5/8. Setterman would be proud as this was a true field bird killed with no decoys.

Congratulations. The one I shot Friday morning finally came on in when I scratched in the leaves.
