Google Earth has Cheatham WMA outlined which will make pre-scouting much easier. I can quickly pick out hardwood stands, cedar glades, fields, food plots and roads from my computer so scouting and turkey hunting this fall will be easier. I plan to focus on the fields and food plots, spot flocks and stalk and ambush.

I am guessing you drew for the quota hunt? Did you get the WMA and cheatham lake or just the wma?

just the WMA. Happy though because it was my first time putting in for a quota hunt and I'm happy for an extra fall turkey opportunity.

Looking back that was a stupid question. Pretty sure you can only get drawn for one quota hunt. There are still left over permits for both the lake and WMA. I got the WMA as well. Looking forward to it. I'm going to try and do some deer bowhunting the week before the hunt to do some scouting.

if there are left over permits, does that mean fewer than the quota amount of people put in for the hunts? Sorry I am still learning the quota hunt system...

Yeah I think so...this is my first year as well. From my understanding, everyone who applied got drawn and there is still like 20 permits leftover.

I guess not a lot of people were into turkey hunting cheatham. I may have some less pressured birds to work with... sounds good to me.

the TWRA has files on their web site that you can download for Google earth. shows the boundaries off all WMA's in TN
