So my buddy(Ben) killed a nice long beard yesterday. 1 7/16 spurs and a 10 inch paintbrush. He saw it strutting in a field of grass about knee high and decided to sneak in on it... THE crazy thing is, his buddy bumped the birds and birds took off except for the long beard who, instead of flying or running off, just decided to duck down in the grass and hide! Ben was able to move in to 35 yards, stood up, and the bird just ducked his head even lower. My buddy then yelped on his mouthcall, the bird put that head up, and it was all over. Have you ever had a Tom try to hide instead of taking off... am I the only one who's never seen it or heard of it?

a couple years ago me and a buddy were riding 4 wheelers on catoosa we came around a curve and surprised a hen in some taller grass.she tried to lay down rather than fly and we were 20 yards away from her.she didn't flush til we drove right beside her.
