Man the fog was THICK this morning where I was at! If I would have known it was that bad, I'd have stayed in bed. The only thing I saw were three hens that flew into my decoys at daylight. I heard one kinda muffled gobble up on the ridge, but never saw a gobbler or heard on gobble in THE FOG!

I stayed as long as I could, but I had work to do. When it mostly lifted, I drove down the valley and looked around for other turkeys. Normally you will see about 15 to 20 on other properties, but there wasn't a single one! In fact it wasn't until I went to Roane County around 11 did I see a gobbler in the field.

Any advice about fog hunting except be patient and be prepared to wait it out?

opening weekend both days were foggy for me but not terrible. Foggy half of the way driving there and foggy in the field at daylight but it cleared up when the sun came up. Heard gobbles both morning only saw hens. Hope you have better luck next time.

the fog helped me out sat. morning a hen flew down and landed about 150 yards from me in the field and the gobbler couldnt see her when he flew down he was 25 yards in front of me needless to say i didnt hunt long sat. morning

I stay at home if it is foggy. I have killed plenty of birds in the fog, but in my experience they don't gobble nearly as much, and will stay in the tree forever as well. There are too many pretty mornings to waste my time with fog.

As I said I have killed plenty of birds in the fog, and could make the case for hunting in wind driven snow because I killed several birds a few years ago on an opening weekend trip to KY when there were blizzard conditions. However, I understand that just because something works out a handful of times it doesn't mean that is the norm.

To each their own, and if you like hunting in the fog then have at it, but for me and for what I have experienced over the years there are better mornings to hunt then those when the fog sets in.

i'm no turkey hunter and these 2 days may have been exceptions but if i want to go hunting, i'm not going to let the fog stop me. i hope you have a great season and maybe we'll cross paths on the clinch this summer.
