Remember a post I made just shy of two weeks ago about the really helpful archery shop I found?

They were going to order a Scott release for me as well as a dozen Easton Axis arrows.

He was going to order everything on the 9th and he thought it'd be in on the 13th. I called the 14th (Saturday), and he said it should be there the 16th (Monday).

Well.. I called the 16th, and it wasn't there. He said another day probably. I waited until today (20th) to call again. He told me the order actually hadn't even been placed yet for the release, but my arrows were ready.

I said ok, I'll come get the arrows after work. He said "uhh.. yeah.. what length did you want them?" I said "I thought you said they were ready? We measured when I was there last". He said "Let me go check".

He comes back and asks which arrows I ordered. I said the Axis. He said "oh we don't have those in stock right now". I said "you were going to order them, remember?". He says "I have some of the Full Metal Jacket. Do you want those?"

I let him know he didn't need to worry about ordering my release or the arrows. I won't be back. :( I tried to help out a local shop.. but man 2 weeks and they haven't even ordered anything? If they don't want my business I'll just order online and save a few bucks. Peckerheads.

they say we the bow shooters are hurting the local shops by purchasing off line, well, this is another fine example of them shooting there selves in the foot!! they arent many good shops left

Pro shops themselves are to blame for their demise as much as, if not more than, big box stores. I had enough a long time ago. I learned to do my own work and make my own arrows. Now the only thing I need a pro shop for is for something I can't get anywhere but from a dealer.

Drove 45 min to a different shop today. They didn't have the Axis 340 in stock that I wanted. I asked if he could order them. He said "yes, but it will probably take a week and a half to get them in. If you don't want to wait, I'll give you a discount on any other arrows that we do have in stock."

Well.. I didn't ask how much discount, but if he's willing to help me out like that, I'm willing to try something else. I had no reason for wanting the Axis other than just having read good reviews on them.

I wound up settling on Carbon Express Maxima Hunters. He gave them to me for $70 for a half dozen. Not bad at all.. they're $85 from Cabela's. I didn't really want to spend that much on arrows, but figured I'd give them a shot with the discount.

Too bad you're not near northern Alabama...the bow shop at Big Daddys Outdoors in Bridgeport is awesome! Last year, the day before our early quota hunt we were practice shooting. My dumb butt dry fired (yes I admit it) and blew my bow to pieces. Luckily we took it directly to Big Daddys and they were able to get me back in business that day so that I could make my hunt the next. They are professional, affordable and saved my hunt so they get my vote!!

Good pro shops are hard to find these days . I only buy items they have in stock as I had a similar experience when I took a bow in to have a string put on , because my PSE XForce is hard to press . They were going to order me a string and said it would be a week or so before they would get it done . Two weeks went by and I stopped in to check on the progress , they didn't order the string yet ! I bought a different press , purchased my own string , and did my own work .
I think the problem is that many shops wait until they get a bulk order for a company before they place their order . I can get most items shipped within 3-5 days .
I used to say that good pro shops are the backbone of the archery industry ........
if you can find a good pro shop !
