I am helping a buddy out with his new outdoor media adventure, so I wrote a blog for him. The blog is about introducing new and young people to the outdoors. Check out the blog and let me know what you think. It would also be cool to hear some stories about your experiences when you started out hunting.

Good read! I would rather take a youth than go by my self anyday of the week. I hunt quite a bit with a friend of mine's son. Witch is now 19 and he killed his first turkey with me when he was 8. And I have been lucky enough to see him kill 15 birds now. Although we have moved on from the big hug and thank you to the high five. I still get more joy out of calling and teaching him then tagging one myself.

I completely understand about the joys. I am a new dad and I look to the day when I can take my own out there. I have also been blessed to take some family friends hunting and it is a blast.

The joy I get from taking a kid is a reality check for sure, its all about the experience and not a lot about the kill. When they do kill one it is an emotional experience, whether we express it or not.
