The "rub" or "pick" play to Renfrow for the game winner was legal. If anything, it was defensive holding against the AL def back and by grabbing the "picking" Clemson WR and moving he actually picked his own teammate who had no choice but to move behind and around and too late to get back to Renfrow. Now, the earlier pick play that went for a TD to Williams looked like offensive PI to me.
Bama's D just got gassed in this game. Clemson ran over 90 offensive plays and Bama had something like 6-7 straight 3 and outs in the second half. The Scarborough injury really hurt Bama, but Bama, like Ohio State, simply had no ability to throw the ball downfield (except for the one pass to Howard). Hurts TD run to take the lead with two mins to go was incredible, but he can't pass downfield. Bama's D had nothing left in the tank.
I think there is a lot of truth in the post above .
It seemed to me ALABAMA game plan on defense was to wear them down early and rattle the QB which they had some early success doing . I think Clemson just had too much depth on offense and they did have the #1 quarterback in the NCAA that will probably be a first round pick up next year in the NFL . They were consistently able to make 1st down conversations where ALABAMA on offense was 1,2 3 and punt .
I don't think BO injury was a game breaker . The other backs did a admirable job in his place . Just too many factors working (wait for it) against US for a positive outcome .
