let's change it up a little.

I'm a very casual hockey fan. I know what offsides and icing are, understand most of the terminology and penalties, and can follow a game. I think it's a great game to watch in person, but just OK on the TV. I appreciate the speed, skill, and physicality of the players and like that professional hockey doesn't seem to have the primadonnas like most of the other professional (and often now, college) sports. And yes, the fights can be fun to watch, especially in person.

Having previously lived in a city going through playoff hockey, there just isn't anything like it. Nashville has a very good hockey club this year and I'm very excited to see playoff hockey come (back) to Nashville. Although hockey seems to have more playoff upsets than other sports as a goalie can get hot and the matches become more defense oriented, I think the Predators could make a run and could have home ice throughout and possibly even to the Stanley Cup finals.

Is everyone else excited or does hockey just not register with you?

I went to my first hockey game a couple years back. Preds played the Blackhawks. Thought it was over at intermission. Haha ended up in a shoutout and the Preds won it. Really fun but know nothing about it. Had great seats also.

I've been to 2 or 3 games with the last one probably 4-5 years ago when they played the Red Wings. We were on the glass and right before a faceoff somebody called timeout. The referee picked the puck up and skated over to where we were. He handed it through a camera hole and told the photographer to hand it to my son who was 7 or 8 at the time so that was cool. Otherwise I'm glad they're doing well but don't care anything about it but agree its better in person than on TV.
