Crappy, crappy morning.
Overslept.
Got to my hunting area at sunrise to find all my climber trees flooded.
Found a decent tree in a high spot and set up in a skinny tree.
At 0800, see a rag horn buck coming my direction. Picked a clear spot in the trees at 30yds. He walks right in, gives me a perfect broadside.
I set the bottom pin on him and squeeze. Too late. I realized I use the 50yd pin, not the TOP pin. Arrow sails right over.
Why, why did I use the bottom pin? I'm going to be pissed about this for the next year.
I hadn't shot the box in 2 weeks, since taking a really nice doe. I was just thinking yesterday that I should put a couple of arrows downrange, but it was raining and snowing.
I think this farm is jinxed. I've taken deer on 2 other farms with no problems. On this one: 1st deer ducked the arrow. Arrow hit an unseen twig on 2nd deer. And wrong pin on 3rd.
Rant off. Back to replaying this in my head. Over, and over, and over...
