Thermacell

Im afraid to use one, they do have a smell to them.I don't need no extra smells in the woods with me! LOL... I hunted last year with out one,and it wasn't to bad,so I guess i'll hunt again without it.

They work. I can't hunt in West TN without one if the temperature is above 60. One tip: get it burning for about 10 minutes before you go to the stand. A lot of the smell occurs when you first light it, especially with a new pad. They also make one now with Fresh Earth scent. The smell may spook deer, but so will swatting at mosquitoes flying around your face.

Ditto- I won't hunt in warm weather anymore without one. If there's a mosquito in the county, it will find me.

I just bought one tonight! I plan on hanging it on an accessory hook below my bow holder.

BTW I was about to get on here and ask the same question since I just got my first one tonight....LOL funny how things work out. :D

I shot at the 3D IBO event up in Pennsylvania earlier this year and a guy I was shooting with had a Thermacell and everyone in the group could tell a difference. I don't have one but from my experience I would recommend it.

The instructions state to lay it flat with the grill pointing up. On their website, they show a guy in a tree stand with his thermacell attached to the side of the stand with the grill pointing away from the hunter. I had a guy tell me that the stuff made him sick when he put it on the platform of his climber pointing up.

I never heard of anyone getting sick from the smell unless they were a pansy . Just buy one and try it , UTGrad . Don't sweat the details . Buy the holster and strap it facing up on your summit support bars.
