I've heard a lot of you guys on here talk about thermocell during deer season. Anyone use it turkey hunting? After getting eaten alive yesterday in the woods I'm thinking I have to get one.

It never comes out of my vest. I can just make do without any one piece of my turkey equipment but that. Unpacked my turkey vest Thursday and it went right into my truck. I use that thing all summer.

Never had one till this turkey season. Always got eaten alive when bow hunting in early fall. After hearing guys talk about them all the time I managed to "aquire" some while deployed last year. I cant believe I never got one sooner. You WILL NOT be sorry you got one. My blind will be filled with mosquitos and ill turn it on and it will clear them All out in about 5 min. The only draw backs I can think of (pertaining to the model I have, I dont know if they have different models or not but on mine) the initial clicking of it to get it started is very loud, the fuel cartridge only lasts 10-12 hours so you have to change it nearly every day and I have no idea how much they cost, and the little piece that u put in that has the scent on it only lasts 3-4 hours and I also dont know how much that costs. But no matter how mich the cost is for those its still worth not happening to spray down with the nasty spray that make u sticky and nasty feeling and not getting completely miserable from beimg eatin alive. Now my only problem is TICKS! If anyone has a solution for them im all ears

Permethrin. Ticks and all the other crawlers are done.
Use the two together for a bug free weekend.

PERMETHRIN!!!
x10. Pretreat your clothes the night before and let the permethrin dry and you will be good to go. I also spray the inside of my clothes where there are openings (waist, leg openings, arm openings, neck opening, etc).

The great thing about Permethrin is that it lasts...even through a couple of washings.

and another great thing, it don't repel the ticks. it KILLS them!!!

Permethrin is great and I use it every year, but it doesn't keep the skeeters from ear buzzing. The Thermacell is great. I started using one about 10 years ago in the FL swamps.

Thermacell is a MUST for me during turkey season and bow season here in South MS!

Check out the video on Youtube that show you how to refill the butane. I tried it this year and it works. It's also costs pennies on the dollar of buying the refills.
