Been watching a gobbler out of my kitchen window for over an hour. He flew down into my neighbors sheep field that has a page wire fence around it and he can't figure out how to get out of it lol he just keeps pacing back and forth looking for a hole to get thru.

After watching him stress himself out for 3 hours I finally walked down there and made him fly off. He got so tired and stressed he just bedded down like a deer lol

That's why they are so hard to hunt? You can never understand what they are thinking. I'm not sure they know either.

I don't think they are smart at all, just very cautious. Being subject to so many predators makes them go the other way when seeing anything out of the ordinary. It is hilarious watching them try to get across a fence.

I have read that turkeys will come to a bait pile, get shot at, and come back within the hour. I sure don't think deer would do that.

Yeah they are stupid but very very instinctive, stubborn and cautious

Personally don't have any respect for any "true" turkey hunter who would consider them stupid.

Care to elaborate on that? What is the definition of a "true" turkey hunter? Do you think turkeys are smart?

I wouldn't worry too much about it bud. I'm pretty positive you would not fit "my" definition ;)

I'm not worried about it, I just asked a simple question. It's on you to be man enough to explain your own words. I don't give a rats rear end if I fit your definition. I would be happy to show you how to kill some big turkeys as long as you don't show up winking at me.
