I went this morning to shoot with gloves on and layers. My accuracy suffered. I tried to straighten it out but couldn't. Is this part of the deal? Should I adjust my sights when wearing layers and gloves?

one thing to remember. Your clothes will affect the string travel after release. This will affect accuracy greatly. I don't hunt much in the cold with a bow any more but when I was younger we would duck tape our bow arm from elbow down to reduce this. You can now by compression sleeves to help this. Quick test is to duck tape your arm and see if it helps.

I wear a spandex arm guard with thick sleeves . I rarely hit my sleeve with the proper draw length , and a STS though .

Another thing to consider is the glove. A thick or heavy glove will cause the bow to sit in a different spot on your hand. Even if it feels the same the effect is the same as torqueing your grip. You may need to practice with different gloves and learn how to hold the bow differently when using the thicker gloves. For some archers a light or thin glove and some type of hand warmer muff works best.

Sometimes a slightly shorter draw length can help with the string interference. But, be careful and don't go too short.

I thought it could be the gloves causing me to torque the bow on the shot.

Heavy gloves can also torque the release on the string if it has a solid barrel . That's why I like a release that has a strap or cord connecting to the head . This allows some flexibility in the release as it wraps around your hand .

Radar is right again as usual. I didn't think of that because my release has a rope connection to the wrist strap. I haven't noticed a problem with my setup. But I do use the same release with a buckle instead of the velcro for the thick clothing.

Do you men a release that wraps around the wrist like the Tru Fire Hurricane Buckle I have?
