Think they are done for the yr......

Haha, for a sec I thought you were serious. One of my favorite things people say this time of the season is they are done. I always get a kick out of it

There is a LOT more breeding that goes on in May than there is in March, that is for sure (at least on my farms in middle TN)

Filmed one breed a hen this time last year. Called him in a few days later and filmed him get shot. Then had another bird gobble and come into the hen yelps from a foxpro while coyote hunting after season had closed.

I watched one breed a hen yesterday morning here in southwest TN. I was calling to him and she came running out of a thicket and sat down right in front of him. He mounted her and stayed up there for 2-3 minutes doing the balancing act. Looked like he was having a helluva good time. :D

Lol. I know better.
This is my 26th season and I think I have seen more breeding over the yr in the month of May than any other month.

When you hunt timber 95% of the time like myself, witnessing breeding in person is not something that you see every day, or every year for that matter. It's a lot more common for folks to see it when they hunt more open areas where one can see several hundred yards.

I have had this lone hen around and I was thinking she is a jenny and should be coming in. this morning, she ended up roosting about 75 yds from me. She started yelping on the limb and I mimicked her. she cut and I mimicked her. She flew down and cut again and I mimicked her. Before I knew it she was 25 yds and closing. She got within 7-8 yds of me. I'm on the ground with no blind and she went absolutely nuts for at least 2-3 minutes.

my only regret is I couldn't get the phone out to record her.
