from the Muzzy 3 blade 100 gr, heads to mechanicals this year. Got it narrowed down to the Rage 2 blade . The Montec G5 Tekan II or the Grim reaper. Pro's ? Con's? Your experiences? Thanks

my buddy used the Reapers this past season and didnt like them too much he had a couple that didnt open too well. luckily he had good shot location and we found the deer but there wasnt much blood. on the other hand i know other people that have had no problems with them and love them. dont know much about the Tekan 2s. i use the Rage 2 blades and love them. they are a tad pricey but most are these days. i had great flight and total devastation on the two does i shot with them last year. i even made a marginal hit on the first one and still found her within 60-70 yards. it messed her up pretty bad. blood was everywhere all the way to her.

I have killed 4 deer with the grim reaper razor tips. Without a doubt they are the best FIXED or MECHANICAL. Two of the deer I did not put a great shot on and hit them further back than I wanted but I watched both lay down within 50 yards and expire within seconds.

out of your choices... I would go with the Rage 2 blade.

My choices for fixed blades are:
Grim Reaper Hades
Slick Tricks
Shuttle T
Nap Nitron

All of these fly awesome... The shuttle T i feel is the best flying fixed blade, then Slick Trick.. Its tight between the two.

As for Mechanical:

The only one i have shot is the Rage.

I just have never been a really big fan of mechanical. But this year im gonna give a few a shot.

I didn't have a good experience with the Grim Reapers on two deer. One shot I'm convinced the blades didn't open. Wouldn't recommend them. Never shot the Rage BH's, but have shot both the Rocket Steelhead and Miniblaster with success.

I will put another vote in for rocket mechanicals. For me I like the sidewinders. They leave one nasty hole and have had no problems out of them. Been using them for about 4 years now. Good luck

If I were to shoot a mechanical , it would have rear opening blades like the Rage and Snyper to improve penetration .

i'm doing just the reverse. I'm going from Rocket Hammerheads (100gr) to Muzzy 3s. Ive shot one deer with the Rockets, killed it quickly, but the arrow got stuck in the far shoulder at 17yds. My brother killed a doe last year with them, hit her low and the blade's "foot" deflected the arrow right along her underside, which split her wide open. It was not a fun tracking job (lots of thick stuff, sparse trail), but we found the deer within 75yds. I have other hunting partners that have had zero problems (and they kill more deer than I do), but the issues with deflection and penetration have caused me to go the fixed blade route this season. I will probably still shoot mechs, especially at turkeys, but not this season. Good luck with whatever you pick, buzzr.

Heard from a couple of different people recently on Rage broadheads. They are shooting bows that are in the 290 fps range and have had pass thru's on 3 different deer and the rage broadhead DID not open up. Luckily the deer were hit fatally and found. The holes were the size of the arrow shaft. I will not shoot any mechanical.

go with the 2 blade rage and just know it seems to be what it is cracked up to be. Just shot the practice heads and am pleased with the flight......
