This buck should be easy to identify.

Had an SD card problem out of my Tactacam so went and changed it yesterday. Pulled the card up on my computer this morning and noticed this buck had probably been doing some fighting last year. Hoping to get a look in person at this deer to check him out and that split ear will be a good thing to look for.

May or may not have been from fighting.
Some of those ear tears are the result of a dog or coyote attack.
When they "throw" off the dog, rips open their ears.

As to this particular buck's ear, just noting how it's damaged way beyond the initially obvious tear, I'd bet dogs or coyotes did this.

Barbed wire is a likely culprit.

What SD card problem did you have? What alerted you to the problem?
I tried to get some HD pics and it would never send them. So I googled it and it said it was probably an SD issue. Then I noticed the cam hadn't done an update on like 14 days but still continued to send pics. It hit the 1 month mark last Sunday and didn't get a pic after that. So finally drove my happy butt out there yesterday and put a new card in it and it went right to working again. Funny thing is it ended last week with those 2 bucks on cam then the first pics I got after the card change were those 2 again.

Always good to have a clearly identifying mark on a buck. Then you can be sure it is the same animal from year to year. Sort of "Nature's ear-tag!"
I've had a doe on my 80 acres for the past three yrs with a split ear . Last year she threw twin bucks ( 1-8pnt & 1-6pnt ) for first year horns . I believe she dropped twins again but i wont know the sex for a while yet . It definetley helps to ID them . I'm not very good with remembering rack configurations . Very nice bucks though
