Got up at 3am. Drove 106 miles/2 hours to my lease. Haven't heard a peep. Not a single gobble in any direction at any distance. Can't even get a hen to answer me. Meanwhile I can guarantee you my crappie buddies are hammering some slabs with this lack of wind. I should've went fishing.

I've heard one roost gobble in a week, haven't been able to hunt so I don't know what's happening later in the morning. It's silent for me here in SW Hickman just like first week+ last year. Sure is tough, but good luck!

I'm not throwing in the towel for sure. I can remember years when the last week of April was excellent for gobbling and lonely longbeards. The two weeks in May are usually dead for me, however.

I'm going to try it in the morning barring a downpour.
I'm not expecting much because of the rain they're calling for plus as quite as it's been this year for me in top of it.

Should have come over to the WMA you might have heard one gobble at Mr Outofstate's owl hoot!

At least owl sounds are somewhat pleasant. I loathe Mr Crow Caller.
it's weird I've mostly just heard owl hoots and real crows this year, I've probably done the most crow calling myself during the middle of the day when birds have not been talking all day long. I've done more locator calling this year than I ever have, cause of how quiet they have been.

I've never had much luck with crow calls but when the crows are harassing a gobbler and really raising heck I'll hear them gobble often.

I've had them work occasionally to get a shock gobble but not too often. I never have carried an owl call but this year I started hooting with my voice and have gotten a bunch of gobbles especially in the late evening around the roost.

They seem to work when the birds are already gobbling at everything... Other than that you got to be right on top of them..
