I am getting a 20 and thoughts on the Mossberg Maverick 20 ga youth. Academy has them on sale now for $180... Don't want to put a lot into one now.

my son started with one of those, with a polished barrel and a good 560 (I believe) choke and hevy 6 it was murder on turkeys had 0 problems with it

Choose whichever gun suits you. Call Apex Ammo they have already tested almost every gun and choke combo, they can tell you which choke/shell combo you need. Another great thing about TSS is that it is not very finicky and shoots very well with
many different size chokes.

That was the first 20 gauge I bought when I caught the 20 fever. I used the tru glo ssx choke tube and federal hvw #7, it is hard on the Gobblers! My son uses it now and killed his first bird last year with it. It is a great gun for the money!
