I sent off a Ss 30-06 to get rebored and barrel cut to 16.5. I was worried about the accuracy of a 16in barrel but she was shooting 1.5 in groups (my fault not the rifles) with hornady 200gr sp's. Topped her with a vx-3l 3.5-10 and B&C stock. I think this is my new favorite hunting rifle.

Here are some comparison pictures.

I always wear electronic ears when hunting so the louder muzzle blase doesn't bother me, however i think I will get it threaded for a muzzlebrake because i think it kicks just as much or not harder than my tikka 300wm.

Nice, I have a friend who killed several brown bears and a couple of water buffalos with a whelen. Very potent round.
