Has anyone tried tilling up an area in a field to see if turkey were attracted to the fresh dirt. I have heard of some hunters doing this and it would attract turkey for the worms and grubs. I will probably be putting in a food plot in the same location later in the year as well.

They seem to come out in my area when the fields are prepped for planting.....

I have also seen where a pature was let to grow up with these certain broadleaf "weeds" that the grasshoppers seemed to like.... which in turn created a buffet for the turkeys and polts.... they were all over it.

yes and it works great! till it up and flatten it just like you would a food plot and they will be all over it when it warms up a bit

Follow UT Extension guidelines for planting so you are legit (assuming you plant something). But I would be cautious about tilling up any old ground, we are getting into the wet period and erosion can be a problem.

You might attract turkeys to a specific location but you are not going to draw them in to your farm from miles away.

Are you more interested in killing turkeys or working and calling them in? If you just want to kill them then buy some cows, feed them grain and every turkey in the county will be knocking on your door. Cattle prices are high, its a win win.
