Well, I found a good bird yesterday down on the river. Finally heard the first gobble of my season! Couldnt get him away from his girlfriend, but i found his strutting zone. Absolutely covered in sign. Gonna set up with the "jake breeding hen" decoy rig and see if I can't get him riled up. Maybe there'll be some "thunder" rolling down river this morning!

Good luck all,

Got set up early where the most strutting activity was taking place, but heard nothing but crows, woodpeckers, and songbirds. Saw several squirrels and a couple hawks. Called for a good hour or so, and moved to check a field about 150yds through the woods. Didnt see or hear a thing. Wondering if the bird stayed on the other side of the river with the hen I saw him with. Did drive around a bit and saw several hens by themselves. Wont get to hunt again til next sat, but its looking like hens are starting to nest.
