It's a punch in the gut when you go back to your previous setup to retrieve the towel you left because you're sweating, only upon returning and seeing a gobbler about 40 yds the other side of where your gun is leaning against the tree where you left it.

But it turned out ok.

Solid 2 yr old, wma bird!

Although having a flat tire was a bummer.

That's truly awesome and hilarious.

Years ago, I was sitting in a spot pre dawn. The poop pain hit me as it usually does each morning. No big deal, I strike off 50 ish yards to take care of it. Little did I know that it was a lengthy endeavor and didn't bring gun or vest. Long story short as I'm wrapping up it's breaking day and a bird gobbles 40 yards from me. It was early season pre leaf out and I scan and there he is strutting on the limb. I freeze, and just watch for an eternity with my bare ass in the wind. He eventually pitches down at about 60 yards and proceeds to strut and gobble for ever. I'm so paranoid about spooking birds I just watched bare ass. He eventually left.

I did kill him the very next day though and now my gun never leaves my side as well as my vest

Congrats! I almost always come back out on my back trail expecting to get into a bird that came to my earlier calling.

Come on man. That's a visual I can't get out of my head.
