That page is something else. If you have self control and want to read some comical stuff I suggest reading it, good luck not getting in the middle of a debate.

You some people complaining about lack of turkeys then you have some very vocal people who basically claim "if your not seeing or hearing the birds then you don't know how to hunt".

Also, there is one guy who can guarantee you that if he can manage your fame for a few years he will have you covered up in turkeys. Deer Mr Turkey, if your on this site please offer up your services to TWRA.

People that are lucky enough to have properties that are covered up in birds just cannot imagine that they would ever disappear. I used to think that. I know better now. But for the life of me, I can't figure out why some are so vocally opposed to any suggestion that there are significantly fewer birds in a LARGE portion of the state than there used to be. Not sure if they feel threatened the limit may be reduced, but that would be my guess. It's hilarious when those people say the birds are there, just not visible. Or they have quit gobbling. Or they have quit pooping/ scratching. But they are still there by the hundreds.

One guy is an outfitter I believe as he has mentioned he has killed 80 or 90 so far his year. He is very vocal about any limit change, obviously that would hurt his business. Obviously he has some fantastic properties to hunt as well.

I've killed two and don't really plan/care to kill more. I enjoy the kill but I enjoy watching the birds work more

may hurt his business a little in the short run, but I bet it would actually put more $$$ in his pocket in the long run if the limit were reduced. Fewer birds per hunter means you can shuffle more hunters in a season through.

I seen that and have a very hard time believing it.

So do I but giving him the benefit of the doubt, he alone is killing a lot of birds and is really good at finding places to hunt.
I actually have some good family friends that consistently kill 18-20 birds a year so it's totally possible that he can be able to kill that many. They are also really good at securing locations to hunt, some people just have a back for it.
But yea, I have a hard time believing him.

He is comical, it's the others that think there is absolutely nothing to worry about. So what if MY farm is OK, I would be worried as heck if a large majority of hunters were complaining about lack of turkeys. Worse case scenario it's a prediction of your future, best case scenario (if the state as a whole was proactive) is your property continues to thrive.

He's been in business for a few years, according to his FB posts they have killed over 80 for the past 4 or 5 years. I'm pretty sure Roost 1 on here has hunted with him before.

Personally, I have a hard time believing they kill that many every year, they hunt Giles, Lincoln, Marshall and Bedford counties. Those counties have good hunting but a lot of people I know that have farms in those counties are struggling and I know some people that hunt land next to them in Lincoln county and they don't have hardly any birds at all anymore but according to the outfitter they are all over the place.

I know my Giles county spots aren't near what they used to be, same with every one else I know that hunts in Giles.

I think I saw that guy. He said, that just cause you don;t see em, doesn't mean they are not there. then went on to say you probably just aren't hunting right or the right places, because they are there, you just can't see them. I quit reading after that.

I have a place in Giles (like 1500 acres) the guy that manages it said, they still have turkeys, but it is NO WHERE like it used to be. He said, on the Governor's One Shot Hunt, it used to be turkey shooting, but now there is a lot more turkey hunting. Said the birds have disappeared.

Well I couldn't help my fingers, got wrapped in.

Elk River Outfitters has plenty of birds, he is a friend of mine. I don't know how they kill so many and do it consistently.
He does have jam up spots tho and they are good hunters. On a side note, never sit beside him in a dove field, he will embarrass you. He was an Olympic hopeful trap shooter at one time.

How bout that guy posting pics of some kind of scratch marks in the mud, saying it was black panther, I had to wonder if he was just stirring the pot, but then I remembered there are people like that and they have Facebook and they post in these kind of groups...

Overall I like the deer and turkey hunting groups on Facebook, it's a big part of the reason I still use FB. If you can wade through the BS and share your stuff with other fellow hunters who aren't causing trouble then you can see it's not a bad group.

I agree, just sometimes the vocal get a following and that, sometimes, can not be a good thing.

*What gets me is the attitude of some people. Some people get fighting mad, granted it's funny.

Well since there is another guy with the same name as me in the turkey group who likes to keep crap stirred up and goes on and on I've pretty much quit posting in it, ppl get me confused with him! I've received several colorful messages because of him to!

Problem is, the inexperienced hunters can't tell who is providing honest good info versus those who are just trolling. Worst place ever to go for real suggestions or advice
