Top water Smallie

Headed to Priest yesterday afternoon after work to try and find a few hybrids on the lower end of the lake.

Didn't find any hybrids but did get into a few smallies on the top water bite. The best was right at 17". I can't say that I have caught many on top water before but it sure was fun.

No telling how many green fish I caught. They seemed to really like the top water as well. Love the fight these brown fish have!

Nice markings on that fish! I have yet to get a smallie on topwater.

The first smallie I ever caught was a 6.5 pounder at Bear Creek Al on a top water bait called a Nippi- Diddy. This was back in 1986.

I love fishing for them on top in the early morning and late evening. A Zara spook type bait has been my favorite lately
