I have two Moultrie M880 trail cameras I purchased in October and set them up, one at each farm where I hunt. After getting out of my stand this morning I swapped cards in the camera I have set up on the farm I hunted this morning. When I put the card in my computer at home to my surprise there were over 3,000 pictures of just the woods, all on the same day. I do know we had a very bad wind storm and windy for several days so could this be why it took so many pictures or has one of my cameras gone haywire? Both cameras have performed great I have just never had this happen before. Any ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like you may have a "runaway" trigger issue.
Should that be the case, may need to send it back to Moultrie for repair or replacement under warranty.
At your earliest convenience, need to pull that cam, and test to see if it's remaining near continuous or intermittent.

However, the problem could have been caused by something as simple as a hanging limb (being hit most of day by the sun) blowing in the wind, then finally falling out of the triggering area. If trigger "runs away" in your house, it is a "runaway" trigger.

The 880 has given me more trouble than any cam I have owned by Moultrie. Two failures at almost day one including one that only took 7 pictures. I have one that still works after several years. I have had better performance out of the 500's .

I agree. My purchases tend to be on the mid to low end. Generally in the $110 to $170 range. Obviously not the best cams out there but that is my price range.
I have had mixed results with Moultree m880 cams. I have one I bought which is the model before the 880 about 3-4 years ago and it is going strong but the more recent purchases of the 880 have failed. They are okay for a month and then suddenly they kill the lithium batteries over night. Seems like they go into some mode that just wipes out the battery in a few hours. I got a couple of warrantee replacements but every one has done the same thing. I still have one 880 running using a car battery. That seems to hold up. I'm guessing when the batteries get on the low side this issue pops up. Having a solid heavy battery on there seems to keep them running. I like the Bushnell's but the dang trigger sensitivity is not as nice as the moultrees. It seems to be either too hot or too cold and varies with temperature. During warmer periods I have to turn the sensitivity down and colder times it needs to be turned up. Oddly enough the most reliable I'm using now is an old 8mpix Cabela's cam. Not sure who actually makes it. The flash range doesn't seem to live up to expectations but daytime pics are just fine.

I have 3. Have always been great . the first one I bought did the same thing . Come to find out it was my fault because I had it on 30 second time lapse instead of 30 second motion .

Let me back up my comments about the 880's. Went to pull 2 cameras on a small tract i have this evening. Got up to the Moultrie and opened the front to check and see how many pics i had. Out ran a ton of water. Won't come on or do anything. It had around 600 pics when it quit but the water jacked the timing and date up so i couldn't tell when it quit. I'll be contacting Moultrie asap. I just bought the cameras last June and got through one season with it.
