yesterday i got 90 to 100 at 40 yards with the win extended but it was plenty good enough to get the gobbler at 40.today i tried some of my last years hevi 7 and got 270 to 280 at 40 yards.i think that is great for 45 being the temp.i wonder if it might get 300 on a warmer day.

What gun/choke are you using?

That's why the Hevi-13 loads blow away the Win Xteneded Range 6's. The 6's will get better penetration, but when you got 2 to 3 more pellets of the 7's hitting for every one of the 6's, it's a no-brainer which one will kill better. Those 6's will lose their pattern density in the 10" a lot quicker as well at farther ranges. So there really is no benefit in shooting them over the 7's.

Well I tried them bc Im tired of hevi changing their shells all the time but for now I will keep using them since i have several boxes from last year.even with them changing the shells they still put up better numbers than most.

i shot all 3...hevi #7, xtended range and the mag blend

got 244 and 226 at 40yds with the #7

168 with the mag blend

110 with the xtended range.

i have shot the xtended range for 3 years and taken 12 birds with them but may try and use the #7 or the mag blend this year just to test them out.

i like the #7 but man at 20yds it is SUPER tight and I have yet to shoot one past 30yds so i am a bit hesitant to use them. Opening morning i may run the #7 in the chamber with a mag blend as a follow up just in case.

And I agree with that. Go to the hevi-shot forum under hevishot choke thread and look at what I told Tim Peterson about this same subject. Whether they will listen remains to be seen.

I'll show you one I shot in 45 degree weather with my 835 and the Tru-Glo SSX .670 choke in a min.

Here you go. A turkey ain't got a prayer from that pattern even at 55yds.

The ssx was tight at 20 yards but there are enough flyers that even if im off a little it should work.most of the turkey i shoot are close but i want to know I can shoot one at 50 if i have too.My favorite spot i hunt i can't hardly see over 30 yards but I have called in a lot of birds in that one spot.We got 3 in 4 days out of it last year.I run and gun them alot so I want to be ready for a long shot.
