Bad lighting for the pic but I finished the tail fan mount and am pleased with it

thanks. That was a spur of the moment (ha ha spur) idea that I came up with when I realized I could use magnets to hold the shotshell in place with the beards sticking straight out. The magnet glued to the board is hidden by the feather.

Great job, it does look good! Still haven't decided exactly how I'm going to arrange my bird that had the monster spurs, think I'm going to leave the spurs on the feet and cross them in front of the fan, with the beard hanging below. But I do like your mount, even with the spurs cut off the leg. Looks great.

Someday you'll have a wife and all that wonderful stuff will have to go into a closet :)

id keep em on the whole feet too. If it helps, sketch the mount on paper first to see if the arrangement looks good, that's what I did.

About the wife and closet...you're probably right, I better get a house with a huge closet.

I couldn't imagine my wife telling me where I could put my mounts.
Mine knows better. I'd hang 10 times the amount if she told me not too.

I like the entire foot with the mount. I have one here on the wall. I took plain old cedar fence boards and built a box about 4" deep and mounted my fan with beard and shotshell mounted on the center of the fan and hung the feet either side of that. Then I put a glass cover over it and it keeps the display clean and dust free. Just keep your feet in borax until they dry out good and then use a light coat of shellac, etc. on them. It'll look good forever. I'd post a pic if I knew how.
