Much like everything in life you got to have the right tool for the job. I am very thankful in the summer of 07 I made the ride to memphis on my bike to buy the baddest turkey gun in the world. I an fortunate to call Tim Claunch my buddy he has always been big into turkey hunting and pattering shotguns.
when I bought it he said use winchester XX supreme 3.5 number 6 2oz load not the the 2.25 oz load Well has usual tim was right and i have never shot any other ammo through it, other that a 2.75 federal #5 for tyler
with this ole mosberg 835 and the hastings .675 choke it has been a long range killer
I havent killed a turkey since 4-2012 cause i really just dont care for it and would rather fish for crappie but i got a electric smoker this fall and figure id go kill one this year and smoke the breast . I went sat morn and quickly remember why i cant stand turkey hunting but i saw 2 gobblers and 3 hens.
This morn i went to a different spot sat down at 11 and had this bird down at 11:24 I had called in 4 gobblers and for the first time ever i actually looked for the biggest one. I have very little patience so once he got into my range i hammered him at 55 yds he never took a step or twitch. lasered with my leica crf 1000 range finder.
