Turkey/duck small game gun

You will get many different answers.....

The 870 is hard to beat.... lot of aftermarket add-on available too.... depending on the model, pretty easy on the wallet.

I had an 870 pump several years ago I'm thinking more along the lines of semi auto wouldn't ya say? An bout how much are the 870's now?

For turkeys I prefer the 870... if he gets right, you should have him in the first two shots for sure.

The semi-auto might be a little faster for wing shooting, but I have seen some 870 users shuck them shells pretty fast.

Shooting a pump in the woods is less to go wrong compared to a semi auto....IMO.

870's can range from $300-$500 depending on the finish and model.

Depends on what you want to spend. I have a Benelli Super Black Eagle. I am 35 now and I bought it when I was 18 with all my graduation money and a ton of hard work that summer. I wouldn't trade that gun for any other shotgun on the market. It has killed ducks, geese, turkeys, doves, squirrels, quail, and rabbits. You can't go wrong with a good autoloader. The 870 is a heck of a gun too. If you will by the gun you want the first time, you won't have to work a ton of overtime everyother year buying a better one, or being stuck wishing you would have gotten the other. As long as you practice before each season, they will do the job.

My Mossberg 500 is a stand-up pump gun. Many after-market chokes are designed for the Accu-Choke system. It has the birchwood stock, and came with IC, M, and F flush mounts, which are good for all-around hunting. $207 at Cool Springs Wal-Mart with 28" vent rib, twin bead barrel. They make em in 12, 20, and .410 bore for that price. Very reliable, I've never had a double shell release or a failed ejection or anything. Some say they kick... I'd have to say Winchesters kick much worse. The 500 features Dual action bars, twin ejectors, strong extractor, and many accessory options.

I have this same gun. I would like to camo mine though...Have you found any camo things for this gun? What set up do you have for Turkey for yours?

when talking about guns it always comes down to what you want to spend and what options you want on it. If you are fine with pump then an 870 is hard to beat same with a Benelli supernova.

the first shotgun i ever bought with my own money was an 870 and it killed everything i hunted. 15 years later I was just tired of a pump and wanted an Auto. Got a stoeger M2000 with 2 stocks and 2 barrels (24 and 28 inch) and could not be happier with the gun. Has a stock and barrel for turkey hunting (has the pistol grip stock) and a stock and barrel for duck hunting. I dont even take my 870 out of the case anymore now that i have a lighter auto shotgun. I gave up on 3.5 inch shells a long time ago so that was not an option i really cared about.

having said all that i WILL own a Benelli SBEII before it is all said and done, just putting the funds together slowly but surely.

I just take it like it is - i might get some no-mar camo tape for the bbl and stock. I really want the 20 inch accu-set barrel, so I can use it for turkeys and deer more adaptively, and I'll have my O/U for waterfowl, and I'd get a 20 gauge for rabbits and squirrels and quail, etc. But unfortunately, chokes and licenses come before $150 barrels.
