Got a baby boy on the way, my first one, due in May. Wanna have him on a bird by next spring :D J/K I know I've got time, but I was wondering what shotguns some of your kids have used to kill turkeys. Gonna take my time to buy, but gonna start keeping my eye out for one. Thanks for the imput.

Dad started me with a 20ga as I did with 2 of mine, but my little one I might get a 410 since he's not as aggressive.

3.5 mag, he will forget about his shoulder when he sees the bird flopping on the group. :D

I thought 20ga was small as you could legally turkey hunt with.
28 ga and up.
I think a auto charles daly youth 20 ga would be a good starter gun for a youngun.

I've got a mossberg 500 20 ga was just wondering if you guys have had any experience with anything lighter or a specific version you might think is best for a really small hunter 6-8 yr old.

My 9 year old handles his 20 guage 870 youth pretty well. Sweet little gun. The recoil aint bad at all on him. ;)

Didn't realize I could not start him on a 410 but thanks fo the info. I'll need to find 20ga without much recoil as not to scare him. He want's to go bad and can call like a seasoned pro already and just turning 9.

20 Gauge. Recoil will not be an issue. I know of several veteran hunters who have switched to 20 gauges so they have to work the bird closer.

ive killed all my birds with a mossberg 500 20 gauge. I bought the realtree camo edition and just use a 3 inch shell and stuck a xtra full choke in it and have had no problems killing birds with it.
