Been looking at a turkey/small game/duck gun for a few weeks now. Been everywhere lookin at em. Narrowed it to 3. Rem 1187 super mag, stoeger 2000 and rem spartan semi auto . Both rems shoot 3.5 inch mags. The stoeger only 3's. Both rems are gas operated, the stoeger is inertia. Like the stoeger because it is light and trim, but the 1187 is proven. Don't know much about the spartan except it feels good and is made in russia. So what can you tell me. i am a rifle man and I am truly lost, but want a semi 12.

I would not get an auto in 3.5"
That is asking for cycling trouble with 2 3/4" shells.

The stoeger I had, had crooked choke threads in the barrel so it wouldnt shoot straight, the choke did not align properly, and it would knock the living snot out of you for an auto 3" gun, insead of more of a push feeling recoil of an auto, it had a hard snap, plus the sloppy rotating bolt head got on my nerves. Have to slam it so it will rotate on my old one.

If you are set on a 3.5" auto, get the 1187.

Otherwise get a regualar 1187. You wont be disappointed.

Not disagreeing with buckblaster, but ive shot a 1187 for several years and have never had a problem with the 2 3/4 shells. I have heard that before though. Without a doubt I would go with the 1187. No complaints here. Camo, not black.

Not to worry, I have just heard of every 3.5" auto having problem with 2 3/4" shells. Even the 1187 supermag.

I wasnt speaking of the regular 1187.
It is most definatly my next shotgun, I shoot an 1100 now for skeet, dove, squirrel etc.
Remington makes a fine auto.

I'd also suggest a short barrel, around 23" or 24". They are a lot easier to move around with in the woods. And with today's chokes and loads the short barrels will shoot well.

You are shootin it pretty well this season TB. I bet brents yard is stained red. I am definitely goin with the 1187. It is a little higher but I am goin on a duck hunt and figure I need 3.5" plus I trust the rem name.

I was thinking a gun guy like yourself mite go with a browning(gold/silver) or a benelli. Get Will Smith to buy you a gun. lol

I am a gun guy, not a shotgun guy. Dicks sporting goods seems to have the best prices. I don't think ol' will is a pro gun fella. Where did you get your supermag. Dicks has them for 650.00 after the 20 buck coupon. Sound fair?

Got mine from Rays Pawn in l'burg. 5 years ago 28"barrel camo supermag- red. i think i paid around 900? could be wrong. 650 sounds great. camo supermag?

If you are goin on a Duck Hunt dont go shorter than 26 on the barrel. The other hunters will appreciate it! I would def go 1187! camo!

900$Turkeyburd? Ole Jason Gotcha!

I've had 1187s for many years. I can't speak for the other guns, but man the 1187s have been beaten to death and performed well.

Should have said earlier i shoot a 1187 supermag. Love it, true huntin gun!!
Seen in make a mess out of a boat load of game in its day. Not to mention its 5 for 5 and shootin banded ducks lol!

for your needs/wants go with the 1187 and 26" barrel(may not be the best for turkey or duck but just fine for both)
