I've never hunted turkey, but saw 2 large flocks while deer hunting, so want to give it a try this Spring.
TWRA website says, "All Tennessee counties are open to wild turkey hunting including WMAs and refuges unless specifically listed."
But, when I go to apply for a license, I can only find quota hunt info and they are limited to 19 locations, mainly refuge and forest.
What is required to Spring turkey hunt on non-public land? I must be missing something here.

You will need a Hunt/fish combo (Type 001) and an Annual Big Game Gun Supplemental License (Type 009). These are the same as the ones needed for gun hunting deer.

However, you don't want to get these until March, as the licenses run from March to February.

if i am not mistaken you can buy your new license in Feb and it is good to the next feb but it wont hurt to wait till march. do like most people do and buy it on April 1st lol

Yeah I am going to be getting my $95 worth of licenses either Feb or march....type 001, type 009, type 094, and type (I forgot what number the trout stamp is)

I'll be catching trout at the end of each month after they stock them, till the spring comes around then it will be time for turkeys.

Go ahead and get the Sportsmans License if your gonna spend that much money.

been thinking about it, I might just say what the heck and go buy it, that is if I can scratch up the extra money
