This is the first year I have hunted turkeys in 30 years. so right now it feels like I have never hunted them. In my early twenties I hunted them in Northern Florida which is flat and full of under brush. Now I have my own property in Hardin county which is hilly (some fairly steep) and virtually no underbrush.

My question is; does it matter if I hunt from the ridge tops or should I be in the bottoms? You can see clearly since there is no/little underbrush and I am sure the turkeys I have called busted my movement.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

In my short-lived experience here in Middle Tennessee, I've found that it depends on the day. If it's clear and mild, I'll be on the ridgetops. If it's windy and warm, I'll check out the bottoms, but, as you well know since you're in Giles Co., I have to be pretty serious about a bird to commit to having to walk back up some of these hills.

If you don't get on one after fly-down, find a comfy spot and hold out for 9:00ish, then hit those tops. They're way more accustomed to climbing those hills than we are, and they don't think twice about looking for a woman up top.
