Turkey hunting WMAs

Good question. I am new to Tennessee and am planning on going this spring. I went to Cheatham yesterday. Seems like there would be some turkey in there!

Cheatham is great for weekdays. I've hunted there and not seen another vehicle a couple of times.

Also- Priest in Smyrna is good. Across from the National Guard where the WMA butts up to that neighborhood.

don't know how far you are away from Fort Campbell, but if you can hunt during the week you will easily limit out on turkeys. Good thing about that place is they do not count towards your state limit.

Cross Creeks Wildlife Refuge is good turkey hunting, as long as it doesn't flood like it has in the past.

LBL is by far my favorite public hunting.

In my opinion AEDC has a lot of birds and a lot of people. My experience there is if you get one to gobble a couple times i would quit calling. Be patient and let the bird come. Ive been there plenty of times and it seems like the birds dont like to respond much to calling. And like i said if you do get one to gobble, it may be only once or twice, just sit down and WAIT on him. I've even had a few circle around and come from behind me.

Percy Priest has plenty of birds but also plenty of other hunters and non-hunters that roam the areas. I've hunted all over Priest over the last 3 years and have had to deal all sorts of issues. So far I have yet to harvest a bird but have come real close.

I would almost say there is as many hunters at aedc as there are birds. It sometimes get quite dangerous.

Lots of birds at AEDC, get away from the roads and you can do fine.
That's what I though last year when someone came in from another road and shot a bird right out from under me. Not many places on aedc you can get away from road hunters. If they hear your bird talking they WILL try to sneak in and shoot him.
