The turkey biologist posted this on TnTurkey.

Thought some of you would want to know!

Three minutes ago I learned that the quota hunts that were posted (tnturkey discussion on 3/2/2010) and then pulled off the internet are not valid. Quota hunt draws are not part of my job so I have no answers for why that information was posted and then retracted. New, and hopefully correct, quota hunt status will be posted sometime between Wednesday and Friday of this week.

I will be happy to answer questions to the best of my ability - but I am pretty much in the dark and have no idea when the problem was identifed.

I really do not think I have ever been this mad at a state game agency, and nothing has even happened YET.

Does this not strike anyone else as just plain wrong? I am sorry there was a mistake, but what mistake? What happens to the folks who don't read this forum? What is to stop me from just showing up, now with my screenshot image from last week which shows I was awarded a hunt?

If you stop and think, this is a nightmare, and us as customers will suffer for TWRA's mistake I am afraid.

It actually gives everyone more days to hunt because I'd say even if you were ticketed, considering the confusion on the dates, the judge would dismiss it. If it means that much to ya, go hunt.

It does mean alot to me, I relish the opportunity to go hunt some of these unbelievably well managed WMA's. Also this year I was going to be able to start my season 2 days early as I got drawn for the CS hunt I had wanted for eons.

Also, took days off which can't be recovered, etc etc.

I am not the type to just show up, but I guarantee there are plenty out there who will be doing that, and I don't blame them one bit.

Maybe it is just with one or two WMA's or something simple, and things won't change much. Who knows, it would be nice if there was some dialogue from TWRA on this one as it effects thousands of their customers statewide, as well as folks from other states.

This new story just doesn't hold water. Especially with the TWRA quota lady saying that the results would be posted the first week of March, and in fact they were. Combine that with many folks within TWRA stating the same.

Also, if they were invalid or not held yet, why was there no feedback to folks like me and others who openly talked about their draws last week on this forum along with other forums where TWRA personnell frequent?

I personally hope they don't honor the printed off ones as well as the "real" draw results. That could be a total cluster.

The easiest solution is to just keep the prelim results, and move on. If there was no flaws in that drawing I see no problem with just keeping the folks who pay the bills happy.

if it was a prelim why did they post the results and tell us they were there to look at? someone is hiding the reason behind all this.

Let's just hope that TWRA does the right thing, which they should, and have in the past.

I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and let them prove me right that the prelim results will stand and everything in the world will be right again. Folks won't lose vacation, money, or time, based on an administrative screw up, and in the end it will work out better for both TWRA and us as financiers of the agency.

136 bucks ya pay a year for a outrageous resident lisence for this state. They screw up many of the applications. I have freinds who submitted applications to find them to be "not found".

Ive spent much time viewing many of the other states wildlife agencies websites to find cheaper resident lisences with vasts amounts of public lands to hunt. With better hunting oppurtunities such as Arkansas. Extensive amounts of research data found linked on their websites. Missouri post weekly waterfowl counts and hunting sucess rates to their website for their public duck holes. Thats more than what we get here !

My opinion on what we pay for in the first place isnt the greatest especially when crap like this happens to us..

Its things like this that reminds me why I pay my money to other states to hunt. Sometimes it seems like TWRA is a "cant do right" agency
