Turkey Thugz Decoy

Have you seen those Avian X decoys? Holy cow they are amazing.

I have decoys, but I'm starting to think that sometimes they scare the turkeys away if they have been shot at before.

I'm not a decoy person, but having seen them all there is no comparison between that thing and the vast majority of other decoys on the market.

$17 is cheap for sure, but comparing that to the other decoys I've seen there's no debate about the difference in how they look.

I was just being honest in my assessment, and I am sure the one above will work just as well as the others, but from a realism standpoint the other brands are amazing and that one is sort of not. I get not wanting to or being able to afford the expensive ones and am sure the Wally World special will work just fine

I would never spend the money on an Avian X, the thugz decoy looks OK for the money but if I was going to get a decoy it would probably be one of the cheap inflatable ones with real feather printing.

Ive seen the avian X decoys this one is comparable to it for lot less money...actually the neck up is more realistic
the neck looks good but I have seen the thugz and the avian X in person and the avian are much more realistic, however I still don't quite like the look of them

Again, I loathe turkey decoys but the avian x hen looks like a live turkey. That thing, not so much IMO when compared to the avian x

The avian doesn't look like a live hen next to a real mounted hen, I saw both at the convention, the guys from PA with the taxidermy decoys had real turkey decoys and you just can't make an exact replica of that. However the DSD and Avian both come pretty darn close. I think the DSD looks better.

And I don't hunt with decoys

I agree nothing compares to a real mounted decoys but those run any where from 400-800 dollars and that's just crazy. I don't hunt with them either ive never had any luck with them but if I did avian or dsd decoys would be the ones I would go with for sure.

yeah those guys selling the taxi decoys were going about 4-500 bucks if I remember correctly. No way, even if I did use decoys I wouldn't ever spend the money.

If a person spends the $$ for a mounted hen decoy they rely way too dang much on a decoy rather than woodsmanship and calling IMO. I understand utilizing decoys for some folks and situations, but buying mounted birds is completely over the top.

IMO having just walked by the DSD and Avian today, the DSD looks good but they majorly miss on the size and body conformation of a hen turkey, unlike the Avian X things which nail it in every way.

If I were to use a decoy it would be Avian X things, there is no comparison.

catman if I recall just a few posts ago you were saying the Thugz thing looked better then the Avian X if I remember correctly. You got some sort of Setterman bias towards the Zink crew :D

No that wasn't me saying it looks better than the Avian, I think the Avian looks far better than the Thugz decoy. If I were to invest in a decoy it would be an inflatable real feather printed decoy which are pretty cheap. I don't care for them much so if I do buy one, it will be cheap but look as real as possible for the money.
